Ex-caregiver accused of sexual abuse

A former caregiver has been accused of sexually abusing two people with intellectual disabilities who were under his care.

Damon J. Heath, 23, was arrested at his home in Frankfort on Tuesday afternoon on five counts of third-degree sodomy, four counts of first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of knowing abuse of a vulnerable adult, according to a news release from the state attorney general's office.

Heath admitted to investigators that he had sexual contact with the two victims while working as a caregiver for Community Choices Unlimited, which manages facilities that provide care for intellectually disabled adults in the Frankfort area.

The abuse occurred "on multiple occasions at various locations in Franklin County from April 2013 until January 2015," according to the news release.

Heath was taken to the Franklin County Regional Jail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Franklin District Court at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
