Police investigating shooting near KSU; 2 college students injured
Frankfort police are investigating a shooting that injured two university students early Wednesday near Kentucky State University.
Three students, two from KSU and one from Central State University in Ohio, pulled into an empty parking lot in the 500 block of East Main Street at around 2:40 a.m., police said. They stopped because they believed they saw friends in another car, described by police as a dark-colored sedan.
That’s when the police say the other car open fired onto the other, injuring two of the three students.
KSU student Kitrice Plouche, 20, and Central State student Donta Berry were injured in the shooting, according to police Maj. Robert Warfel.
Plouche was shot in the arm, Warfel said. Berry was shot in the abdomen and required surgery at Frankfort Regional Medical Center, Berry said.
The driver, a KSU student, was unharmed.
Police did not yet have a suspect Wednesday morning.
