A Nicholasville man was arrested Saturday night after police say he stabbed his cousin in Nicholasville.

The alleged stabbing happened at 206 Courchelle Drive, said Scott Harvey, a spokesman for Nicholasville Police Department. The incident happened after a fight over missing family property, Harvey said.

Rodney “Bo” Rutherford, 21, cut across his cousin’s abdomen with a knife, Harvey said.

The cousin was transported to Saint Joseph Jessamine and then University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center for his injuries. The cousin’s name and condition were not immediately available.

Rutherford fled the scene, but later turned himself in. He was booked in the Jessamine County jail and was charged with first-degree assault. Rutherford’s court date is 8:30 a.m. Monday, according to the jail’s website.
