Community art project will create banners for Main Street

The 2017 Nicholasville Now Paint-the-Town Banner Event will be held Thursday at the Blue Building at City/County Park.

Painting times will be at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Applications are available at the Jessamine County Courthouse and Nicholasvillenow.org. The limited number of spots available and will distributed on a first-come basis.

Mobile blood drive at Wilmore Free Methodist

The Kentucky Blood Center will hold a mobile blood drive from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Wilmore Free Methodist Church, 1200 Lexington Road, Wilmore.

Blood donations tend to decrease during the summer months. Donors will be automatically entered in drawings to win a 2017 Toyota Highlander and Red, White and Boom Tickets.

If you are in good health, weigh at least 110 pounds, have a photo ID and are at least 17 years old, you can be a blood donor. Donors must go through some screening questions and a mini-physical to make sure they can safely donate blood. For more information, call the Kentucky Blood Center at 800-775-2522.

Tom Dorman Nature Preserve Walk on Wednesday

The Jessamine County Public Library will sponsor a walk in the Tom Dorman Nature Preserve from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday. Keep track of your miles and be entered to win a $100 gift card to Dick’s Sporting Goods. The walk will be canceled if there’s inclement weather or temperatures above 90 degrees.
