The VisitNich.com Bowl will bring three days of high school sports action to Nicholasville. The action begins Friday with a football invitational tournament at the East Jessamine High field. East Jessamine meets Walton Verona at 6:30 p.m., and West Jessamine meets Lloyd Memorial at 8:45 p.m. The Soccerama Showcase Tournament will be played on Saturday and Sunday. Participating girls teams are Greenwood and Science Hill, along with East and West Jessamine. Participating boys teams are Newport Central Catholic and Henderson County, along with East and West Jessamine. Soccer games will be held at the West Jessamine Soccer Field. High Bridge Homecoming Festival this weekend
The 13th annual High Bridge Homecoming Festival will be from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at historic High Bridge Park, about 10 miles outside Wilmore on Kentucky Route 29. The free festival will feature live entertainment, food concessions, displays, model train exhibit, baton twirlers, a kids’ water balloon battle, pony rides, art in the park, Daniel Boone history talk, silent auction, raffles and crafts by local artisans. Wilmore named a safe city
Wilmore has been named a Kentucky Safest City for 2017 according to an independent review by the Safewise Report, a home security and safety company. The Safewise Report ranks Wilmore at No. 12 in Kentucky’s top 20 safest cities, with less than one violent crime per 1,000 residents and less than 10 property crimes per 1,000 based on FBI crime statistics.
Sweet Adelines to sing Thursday
Unbridled Harmony, the Lexington chapter of Sweet Adelines, will present a program of classics and modern pop a capella in the barbershop style at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Wilmore Community Center at Wesley Village.
