‘Serious’ head-on collision reportedly leaves 4 injured near Lexington
A “serious traffic collision” in Nicholasville temporarily closed all lanes of traffic on U.S. 27 Thursday night as police investigated.
The crash happened when a car was headed the wrong way on the shoulder of US 27 and hit the truck head-on, police told WKYT, the Herald-Leader’s reporting partner. Two people in the car going the wrong way had life-threatening injuries, according to WKYT. A third car was also involved, but no one in it was hurt, WKYT said.
Nicholasville police said the wreck happened just south of Brannon Road, not far from Lexington. At least one truck was involved, leaving the occupants with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Facebook comments from those who said they were relatives or on scene.
A collision reconstruction unit was called to the scene to investigate, police said.
Police said they reopened the road shortly after midnight Friday.
