‘He served with pride.’ KY police agencies, officials pay tribute to Jessamine sheriff
Several Central Kentucky area police agencies have taken to social media to honor Jessamine County Sheriff Kevin Corman, who died Sunday.
Corman was found dead inside his home Sunday by a family member, according to Kentucky State Police. Trooper Adam Hall said Corman died from natural causes.
No foul play was suspected and an autopsy was expected to be conducted by the state medical examiner’s office.
Corman had served as the sheriff for Jessamine County since 2006.
“Our thoughts are with the Corman family and our brothers and sisters of the Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office,” the Nicholasville Police Department wrote in a Facebook post.
Gov. Andy Beshear sent out a tweet Monday morning to honor Corman, someone who he called a friend.
“Britainy (Beshear) and I extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Sheriff Kevin Corman, as well as the entire community of Jessamine County, which he served with pride,” Beshear said in his tweet. “Sheriff Corman was a friend, and we are grateful for his commitment to the people of Kentucky.”
Rep. Andy Barr also called Corman a friend and described him as someone who always had a smile on his face.
“His two decades of service as Jessamine County Sheriff is appreciated by many,” Barr wrote in a Facebook post. “Please join me in praying for Sheriff Corman’s family and friends.”
“The Georgetown Police Department would like to offer our deepest sympathies and condolences to the family of Sheriff Kevin Corman,” the Georgetown Police Department wrote in a Facebook post. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Jessamine County Sheriffs Office as well as friends and family of Sheriff Corman.”
The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office wrote, “Our unsung guardians have a special place in God’s kingdom. Rest well, Brother, You served with honor.”
Corman lost his bid for re-election in last week’s primary election. Sgt. Kevin Grimes, a Nicholasville police officer, defeated Corman and is expected to take office in January.
