Updated: 3 hospitalized after crash in Central Kentucky. Charges possible
Three people were sent to the hospital Monday evening after an accident in Nicholasville, according to police.
The collision happened at the intersection of North Main Street and Orchard Drive shortly after 11 p.m., according to Sam Wade with Nicholasville police. Wade said witnesses reported seeing a vehicle driving erratically through downtown and a few moments later that vehicle hit a pickup truck.
“The pickup truck was traveling southbound and was trying to make a left-hand turn onto Orchard Drive and it was basically a T-bone style collision right at the passenger’s door,” Wade said.
There were two passengers in the truck and one in the vehicle, all of which were sent to the hospital. Wade said the passenger in the truck suffered life-threatening injuries and underwent surgery at the hospital.
Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the accident, according to Wade. There’s a possibility charges could be filed after the collision reconstruction team finishes its investigation into the collision, Wade said.
The Nicholasville Police Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and the road was shut down for a period of time, police said.
