One dead, one injured in a Central Kentucky motorcycle accident

One person died and another was critically injured in a motorcycle accident last weekend in Jessamine County.

The crash happened Saturday night at the intersection of Harrodsburg Road and Catnip Hill Road, which is near the Fayette County line. A motorcycle carrying two people was struck by a car, said Anthony Purcell, chief deputy at the Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office.

The motorcycle passenger, Delphia Saadiq, 45 of Nicholasville, was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the motorcycle was transported to a Lexington hospital in critical condition, Purcell said.

The accident happened shortly before 9:45 p.m. Purcell said the sheriff’s office is still working on reconstruction of the accident, but doesn’t expect charges to be filed.

Bad weather and dark driving conditions could have contributed to the accident, Purcell said.

This is a developing story and may be updated.
