Body identified more than a month after it was discovered in Central Kentucky wooded area
A body that was found in Jessamine County more than one month ago has been identified.
Kentucky State Police and the Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort were able to use fingerprint and DNA technology to identify the person as John “Brett” Kelley, 52. Jessamine County Coroner Michael Hughes said Kelley was from Bardwell.
Kelley was found Nov. 16 near the Kentucky River on the back end of the Bluegrass Sportsmen’s League’s property, according to Detective Matt Lytle with the Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office. A hunter was going out to hunt when they found the body.
Lytle previous said foul play is not suspected in Kelley’s death. Hughes confirmed foul play is not suspected.
“We would like to thank Kentucky State Police, Kentucky State Police Crime Lab, APHIS, and the numerous phone calls and tips we received during this investigation,” the Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.
