Two men discovered human remains Friday while hiking in Jessamine County.

According to a press release posted on Facebook by the Jessamine County Sheriff’s office, police were told two men had found what they believed to be human remains around 3:15 p.m. Friday in the Indian Falls area. Two police and two fire departments responded, and the two men guided officials to the discovery.

A deputy on the scene confirmed the remains were human, and the Jessamine County Coroner’s Office collected and transported them to the state Medical Examiner’s Office.

“As of this time, all that we can say is that the skeletal remains are of a male adult. We will have to wait until the Medical Examiner’s Office can conduct additional testing to potentially determine who the individual may be,” the release said.
