Two dead after plane crash in Jessamine County Saturday morning
Two people have died in a plane crash outside Nicholasville, the Jessamine County coroner said Saturday.
The small plane crashed on a farm off Ky. 169, between U.S. 27 and U.S. 68, Jessamine County Sheriff Kevin Grimes said in a Facebook post. The crash was reported at 8:46 a.m.
“Multiple 911 calls came in giving units a pretty good location of where the plane went down,” Grimes said in the post. “We are actively investigating this incident and are waiting on the FAA and the NTSB to arrive on the scene.“
Jessamine County Coroner Michael Hughes said the two people who died had not been identified as of about 2 p.m. Saturday. Hughes said the bodies were still in the plane, and local officials were waiting for FAA and NTSB representatives to arrive.
The plane that crashed was a CA6-WB, the NTSB said in a social media post.
The agency said in an emailed statement that an investigator was expected to arrive at the scene Saturday evening.
“Limited information is expected today,” the statement said.
