Nearly 400 Powerball fans will get a free chance at $1.5 billion at one Nicholasville grocery.

The $2 Powerball tickets will be given out to players at the East Brannon Road Kroger at 2 p.m. Wednesday, roughly nine hours before the drawing.

“The reason we’re at this astonishing point in our history is because of our players,” Kentucky Lottery President and CEO Arch Gleason said in a news release. “To say thanks for their support, we’re going to give 1,500 players a free $2 Powerball ticket.”

Total sales just for the Saturday drawing in Kentucky were $10.9 million, and at one point, around 100 tickets every second were being sold, according to the release.

The jackpot has been building since Nov. 4 and Wednesday’s drawing will be the 20th time since there’s been a winner.

The odds are the odds, however — 1 in 292 million, no matter how a ticket comes your way. Even so, millions of Americans in 44 states (plus the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico) have lined up in pursuit. The jackpot is so large that billboards are overwhelmed with the extra digit, only displaying a $999 million prize.

Saturday’s drawing generated four $50,000 winners in Kentucky, with Meijer Gas Station on Lantern Ridge Drive in Richmond selling one ticket. Other $50,000 tickets were sold in Elizabethtown, Mayfield and Louisville.

The 1,500 Powerball tickets will be evenly distributed on a first-come, first-served basis in four Kentucky locations:

▪ Louisville: 10 a.m. EST, Kroger at 9440 Brownsboro Road

▪ Nicholasville: 2 p.m. EST, Kroger at 200 East Brannon Road

▪ Covington: 2 p.m. EST, Location TBD

▪ Bowling Green: 2 p.m. CST, Kroger at 2945 Scottsville Road
