Wilmore, Eastern Kentucky receives funding for treatment plants
The city of Wilmore in Jessamine County will receive $2.5 million in U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development funds to upgrade its wastewater treatment facility and replace deteriorating sludge-holding basins.
The money will come in a $1.8 million loan and a $625,000 grant announced Tuesday by USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack.
In addition, Mountain Water District will receive a $3.6 million loan and a $1.1 million grant to construct a wastewater treatment plant and collection system for an area with no public sewer system. The water district serves the unincorporated areas of Pike County.
In addition, Elkhorn City in Pike County will receive a $100,000 grant to replace a wastewater treatment plant built in 1972.
