R.J. Corman 5K to benefit Chrysalis House

The R.J. Corman 5K Run/Walk to benefit Chrysalis House will be held Saturday at 101 R.J. Corman Drive in Nicholasville.

Online registration will be available until 5 p.m. Wednesday and is $20. Early packet pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Chrysalis Community Center, 1589 Hill Rise Drive, Lexington. Preregistrants are guaranteed a race shirt.

Race-day registration is $25 and will open at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at R. J. Corman Railroad Group, 101 R.J. Corman Drive, Nicholasville. The events will begin at 9 a.m.

Prize money will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers, and five random-drawing cash prizes will be given away. The race will be chip-timed by 3Way Racing with scrolling results, and the course is closed to the public.

Free parking is available, and a photographer will capture race photos. There will also be activities for the kids. The R.J. Corman facility has a heated pavilion and indoor restrooms, and post-race food, prepared by My Old Kentucky Dinner Train’s executive chef, will include burgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, wraps, fruit and churned homemade ice cream.

Chrysalis House is Kentucky’s oldest and largest licensed substance-abuse treatment program for women. More than 200 women and their families were served last year. All services are funded by grants and private donations.

The 5K is one of the organization’s major annual fundraisers, with proceeds directly benefiting clients. Chrysalis House Inc. programs are licensed by the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services. Register early at cormanraceforchrysalis.com. For more information, call 859-977-2502.

Taste of Jessamine County benefits charities

The 19th annual Taste of Jessamine County, sponsored by First Southern National Bank, will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the R.J. Corman Hangar 2, 101 Corman Drive, Nicholasville. Tickets are available in advance or at the door. Adults are $10 and children $5. Proceeds benefit Adventure Serve, Revive Ministries and Nicholasville UMC Manna Meals.

Deadlines near for Jessamine County Pictorial History Book

Pre-order sales of the new Jessamine County Pictorial History Book close on Monday. The limited-edition hardbound book includes hundreds of photographs, from the 1800s through the present.

Residents are invited to submit family and historical photographs for inclusion in the book until Monday.

The book costs $39.95.
