Somerset man killed outside Madison County gas station, suspect arrested.
A man was arrested following a fatal gas station shooting Sunday night in Madison County, according to Kentucky State Police.
State police was called to Richmond’s Cannon Corner Marathon on Berea Road Sunday night around 10:15 p.m. in reference to shots being fired, it said in a release.
An investigation determined that an altercation led to the shooting outside of the gas station, according to police. The Madison County Coroner’s Office said Matthew Francis, 26, of Somerset, was the victim in the shooting.
The alleged shooter, 22-year-old Brandon Short, was taken into custody and has been charged with murder, according to jail records. According to WKYT, Short admitted to firing multiple rounds from a handgun
Short has been placed in the Madison County Detention Center.
