Early morning car accident results in death of Kentucky man, police say

A Richmond man has died of his injuries after he was hit by a car Thursday morning, according to the Richmond Police Department.

William S. Pollard, 27, was hit by a car about 5 a.m., police said. Officers responded to the area of Eastern Bypass and Dwight Drive to find Pollard unresponsive, police said. He was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, but he died just before 11:45 a.m., police said.

The driver who hit Pollard remained at the scene and cooperated in the investigation, police said.

No charges had been filed as of Thursday afternoon, Lt. Col. Rodney Richardson said.

The investigation was being conducted by the police department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit.
