City of Richmond under boil water advisory after transmission line breaks
The city of Richmond is under a boil water advisory, according to the Richmond Register.
City Manager Rob Minerich told the Register a main water transmission line at Greens Crossing broke. Minerich said the issue is being resolved but the advisory will last roughly 24 hours.
When under a boil water advisory, Richmond Utilities advises people to boil water for three minutes, cool the water and place in clean containers for use or refrigerate.
Water used for showering or laundry purposes does not need to be boiled.
“The safety and satisfaction of our customers shall always be Richmond Utilities top priorities. On occasion, our system will experience water line breaks which will result in temporary loss of pressure or complete loss of water for some time,” Richmond Utilities’ website read.
Once the advisory expires, people should run their water until it’s clear of sediments or air.
