Teen killed when tractor-trailer rear-ends pickup truck on KY interstate

A 16-year-old boy was killed in a collision Sunday after his pick-up truck was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 75 in Central Kentucky, according to Kentucky State Police.

The collision happened just before 5:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-75, near mile marker 83 in Madison County. State police said a commercial vehicle rear-ended a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, driven by Tristen Brown, a teen from Berea.

Tristen was taken to Baptist Health Richmond, where he was later pronounced dead, according to state police. The driver of the truck was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Tristen was a sophomore at Madison Southern High School, said Erin Stewart, spokesperson for Madison County Schools.

“The district is deeply saddened by Tristen’s loss,” the school district said in a statement. “We ask that people join our district in lifting Tristen’s family up in thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”

Two other vehicles were involved in the collision, but no other injuries were reported, according to state police. The crash is under investigation.
