A Madison County grand jury has indicted a man in connection with a fatal shooting Oct. 27.

Joshua Brown, 22, of Richmond, was indicted on one count of murder, two counts of criminal attempt to commit murder, and a count of first-degree wanton endangerment.

The murder count was in connection with the death of Steve Thomas Martin, 57. Richmond police said their investigation indicated that Brown shot Martin, who died at the scene on Jason Drive on Richmond’s east side.

The indictment says Brown was charged with criminal attempt to commit murder because he “intentionally” shot a pistol at Shalynn Bruck and Samantha Carney with “the intent to kill them.” Bruck was shot in the foot; Carney was apparently not injured.

Martin was Bruck’s father. Brown is the father of Bruck’s son.

Brown also shot himself in the head but was treated at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital and later released. Brown is now in the Madison County Detention Center in Richmond.

Rodney Richardson of Richmond police was the witness who testified before the grand jury.
