Two cousins killed in Central Kentucky crash

Excessive speed may have been a factor in a single-vehicle crash that killed two people and injured a third in Woodford County early Saturday, police said.

Woodford County Coroner Ronald Owens said the men who died, Dylan Boone and Spencer Hopkins, both 20, were cousins. Boone lived in Woodford County and Hopkins lived in Anderson County, Owens said.

Police said in a news release that the crash occurred just after 3:30 a.m. on McCracken Pike near the Versailles city limits.

When officers arrived, they found the two men dead in the heavily damaged vehicle, which had hit a tree near the road.

A woman in the vehicle was taken to the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.

The cause of the wreck had not been established Saturday, but speed was considered a factor, police said.

Owens said Clark Funeral Home in Versailles is in charge of arrangements for Boone and Hopkins.
