BRIEFS: Versailles woman is Centre College homecoming queen

Christina Giles was crowned the 2010 Centre College Homecoming Queen Oct. 23. Giles is a senior captain of the Centre women's soccer team, a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, a resident adviser, president of the Student Judiciary Board, and is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, Phi Beta Iota, and Sigma Delta Pi. Giles is a 2007 graduate of Woodford County High School and is the daughter of Tracy and Sheila Giles of Versailles.

Francisco's festival moving to Equus Run

Francisco's Farm Planning Committee and Midway Renaissance have announced the festival's move from its original venue on the campus of Midway College to Equus Run Vineyards.

"Midway College is proud to have hosted Francisco's Farm Arts Festival for the past seven years, and wishes them much success as they continue to grow into a nationally known event," said Dr. William B. Drake, president of Midway College.

Artist applications are available online now, with booth fee discounts for applications submitted in November and December. The final application deadline is Jan. 30, 2011.

Church celebrates 225th anniversary

Clear Creek Baptist Church, located at 30 Pinckard Pike, celebrated its 225th anniversary Oct. 9 with the unveiling of an historic marker at the church. The Baptist History Preservation Society unveiled the marker, which is eight feet tall and gives a detailed history of the Clear Creek Baptist Church and its first pastor, John Taylor.
