Versailles council schedules special meeting to discuss mayor's successor

Versailles City Council will have a special meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday to vote on a successor to Fred Siegelman, who resigned July 1 to take a position with the state Department of Corrections.

The council was unable to reach a consensus on a successor at a July 2 meeting. Council member Brian Traugott did not get a majority vote, and a tie vote prevented Versailles resident Anthony Wilhoit, executive director of the Kentucky Legislative Ethics Commission, from being named.

Thursday's council meeting will be at Versailles City Hall, 196 South Main Street.
