Police searching for escaped inmate charged with murder in Breathitt County

An inamte from Three Forks Regional Jail in Beattyville is on the run after escaping Friday afternoon.

William Napier, 31, of Clay Hole, escaped from a transport van at about 1:30 p.m. on KY-52 following a court appearance in Breathitt County, said Kentucky State Trooper Robert Purdy in a news release.

Napier, who was charged with murder in July, swam across a fork of the Kentucky River and was last seen on Rock of Ages Road shirtless and wearing khaki pants.

Napier is 5’10’’ tall, weighs 180 pounds, has brown hair, brown eyes and may have a cut on one of his arms or hands, Purdy said.

Police are asking anyone with information on Napier’s whereabouts to call 859-623-2404.
