Scary clown arrested, and he’s still in costume in his jail mug shot
A man dressed in a bloody clown mask and black and white clown suit was arrested Friday in Bell County.
According to the the Middlesboro Police Department, Jonathan A. Martin, 20, was walking in a wooded area near an apartment complex when he was arrested. Martin was charged with disorderly conduct and wearing a mask in public, which is against a city ordinance. Martin was booked into the Bell County Detention Center around 2 a.m. Friday morning and released after 24 hours. Martin had a bench warrant out for his arrest because he had previously failed to pay fines to the court and also failed to appear at an arraignment, according to the detention center website.
Martin was still wearing the costume in his mug shot.
Earlier this week the Laurel County Jailer Jamie Mosley took a mask away from a teen dressed as a creepy clown and harassing drivers. Another clown, dressed in black and white like Martin, was spotted walking at night in Waco, Ky.
Martin’s story is being widely reported including a story on BBC.com, the British Broadcasting Corporation.
Creepy clowns have being spotted roaming at night in several states, with many of the sightings reported widely on social media. There have been several sightings in Illinois and the Carolinas.
