Driver, passenger abandon car struck by bullets
Two people abandoned a vehicle on North Broadway on Friday afternoon after it was struck by gunfire.
The gunshots struck a tail light and flattened a tire of a blue Nissan passenger car, police Lt. Jackie Newman said.
After a report of shots fired around 2:40 p.m., police found the abandoned vehicle at the entrance ramp from North Broadway onto Interstate 64/75. Police also found two shell casings.
A woman to whom the Nissan was registered was later interviewed by police at her home in the Winburn neighborhood, not far from the shooting scene.
“She is not being cooperative with us in regard to what happened and who else was in the vehicle with her,” Newman said. “There was a male passenger, but she’s not willing to give us his information. ... She won’t tell us who the passenger is.”
A black pickup truck was seen leaving the shooting scene, Newman said.
“At this point, we’re taking a wanton endangerment report,” Newman said.
