Man sought for Madison vehicle theft hid in sewage
A man arrested by the Madison County Sheriff's Office in connection with a vehicle theft had to be decontaminated before going to jail.
Steven Richardson, who was accused of taking a vehicle from Cars of Kentucky in Richmond, became covered in sewage while hiding under a house in an attempt to avoid being apprehended, according to a Facebook post by the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office said they received a call at 9:24 p.m. Tuesday saying that he was at the Shell on Irvine Road.
A deputy who responded saw a man who looked like Richardson run into a residence on Meadowbrook Road. The sheriff’s office brought its police dog to the scene and found Richardson hiding in a front room.
The Waco Fire Department decontaminated Richardson at the scene because of the sewage he had encountered under the residence. The Richmond Police Department took him to the Madison County Detention Center.
