Kentucky man captured in Michigan is indicted in fatal shooting on Lakeshore Drive
A Lexington man was indicted this week on charges of robbery and murder in the May 7 shooting death of Jordan Yeast.
Courtney Darnell Kidd, 33, was arrested June 27 in Michigan and was brought back to Lexington. A Fayette County grand jury indicted him Tuesday.
On May 7, police responding to a report of gunshots found Yeast, 26, dead in a vehiclein the 100 block of Lakeshore Drive near Richmond Road.
Yeast lived in the Lakeshore Drive area but not at the address where he was found.
Kidd and Yeast are thought to have known each other, according to police. Investigators identified Kidd as a suspect after interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence.
Kidd also was indicted on a charge of attempted murder “when he unlawfully fired a handgun at Courtney Bowen, which was a substantial step in a course of conduct planned to culminate in the death” of Bowen, the indictment said.
The grand jury also indicted Kidd on a charge of being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun and for being a persistent felony offender.
The indictment said Kidd had been convicted on charges of wanton endangerment in 2014, possession of a controlled substance in 2008, and tampering with evidence in 2008.
Kidd is scheduled to be arraigned Sept. 21 in Fayette Circuit Court. He remains in the Fayette County jail.
