Elaborate marijuana operation was close to children, state police say

A Rockcastle County man is accused of growing nearly 200 marijuana plants in a building near his home where five children also lived.

Kentucky State Police searched Matthew Green’s residence, and discovered an elaborate, indoor marijuana operation in a building on the property, according to Green’s arrest citation.

A total of 183 marijuana plants and a pound and a half of packaged marijuana was found in the building, according to court records. Green, 41, stated that he sold marijuana for $2,500 a pound in Florida, his citation said.

Green had five children ranging in ages 5 to 13 living in and around the drug-trafficking operation, according to his citation.

Green was arrested Wednesday and charged with five counts of endangering the welfare of a minor, cultivation of marijuana and marijuana trafficking.
