A youth softball coach in Scott County has been accused of sexually abusing a child, but police say the victim was not a team member.

Robert R. McGee, 53, of Georgetown, was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree sexual abuse and first-degree sodomy.

Georgetown Police Assistant Chief Robert Swanigan said the victim in the case was not a member of a softball team, and police have not received any complaints from the teams McGee was affiliated with.

The alleged victim told police that McGee abused her beginning when she was 5 years old and continued until she was 12, Swanigan said.

McGee was being held in the Scott County Detention Center Saturday.

McGee is listed as treasurer of the Scott County Softball Club on the club’s website. He’s also listed as an assistant coach of the softball team at Royal Spring Middle School.

The Georgetown News-Graphic reported that McGee works for the Georgetown-Scott County Revenue Commission.
