A Barbourville man has been charged after he allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend and kidnapped her and another man, according to the Knox County Sheriff's Department.
Rickie Ledford, 29, was allegedly armed with a handgun when he broke through the door of the victim's Knox County home about 4:30 a.m. Friday, the sheriff's department said.
Following a physical altercation, during which Ledford allegedly struck his ex-girlfriend in the head with the gun, Ledford forced the woman and another man to take Ledford to Ledford's mother's home on School Street in Barbourville, according to the sheriff.
The male victim was released by Ledford around 8 a.m., and he promptly called 911, the sheriff said. Three members of the sheriff's office found Ledford, who was armed with a gun, around 10:15 a.m. inside a bedroom closet. A plastic bag containing methamphetamine and a syringe was also found, the sheriff's office said.
The woman was transported to Barbourville ARJ Hospital, according to the sheriff's office.
Ledford was charged with burglary, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, first-degree assault, fourth-degree assault, unlawful imprisonment, criminal mischief, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the Knox County Detention Center.
