Young Thoroughbred euthanized after it was shot on Central Kentucky farm


A 9-month-old thoroughbred colt was shot with a rifle at a Jessamine County farm, according to the Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident happened between 11 p.m. Thursday and 2 a.m. Friday, Chief Deputy Allen Peel said. The horse was found shot at Springhouse Farm off Tates Creek Road and had to be euthanized Friday morning, Peel added. The location of the wound wasn’t revealed.

Multiple shell casings were found near where the horse was shot, according to Peel.

The sheriff’s office does not have any suspects and wants the public’s help. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 845-3139.
