Northern Kentucky city councilman charged with sexually abusing a minor
A Northern Kentucky city councilman is in jail after being charged with sexually abusing a child.
Clarence Jefferson, 43, of Dover, was arrested Monday on charges of sexual abuse and sodomy, both with a child younger than 12. He is being held in the Mason County Detention Center with a $50,000 bond.
Mason County Sheriff Patrick Boggs told the Maysville Ledger Independent there are potentially more victims and more charges could follow.
Jefferson has served in the Dover City Council since 2016, according to his campaign Facebook page, but lost his most recent reelection bid. He finished last in the race for Dover city council, earning just 25 votes, according to the Ledger Independent.
