Pulaski County deputy judge-executive charged with DUI. He refused a blood test.

The deputy judge-executive in Pulaski County was charged with driving under the influence Monday night after failing a sobriety test and smelling like alcoholic beverages, according to Kentucky State Police

After he denied drinking, Dan Price, 49, did not consent to breath and blood-alcohol tests and was booked into the Pulaski County Detention Center late Monday, police said.

He was pulled over around 8:30 p.m. Monday in Somerset when police observed him weaving on E. Highway 80, according to an arrest citation. Price struck the rumble strip twice and crossed the center line three times, and failed to signal turns two times, police said.

When an officer pulled Price over, a strong odor of alcoholic beverages was detected from inside the vehicle, an arrest citation states. Price had red, glazed eyes and slow speech, police said.

Price was unsteady on his feet and slow to follow directions, police said. The arresting officer smelled alcohol on Price, but the deputy judge-executive said he did not drink any alcoholic beverages, according to court records. Price said he had taken his prescribed Adderall, police said.

During his field sobriety test, Price had to use his arms for balance and almost fell several times, according to an arrest citation. He refused a preliminary breath test and did not consent to a blood test when transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Price was charged with driving under the influence, failure to use a turn signal properly and careless driving. He was placed in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
