Woman indicted on 3 counts of murder in crash that killed sisters on I-75 in Lexington

A woman accused of driving under the influence and causing an Interstate 75 crash that killed three people in September was indicted Monday on multiple charges, including murder.

Tammy Marie Rodriguez, 42, was indicted Monday on counts of first-degree assault, wanton endangerment and three counts of murder, according to court records. She was also indicted on a charge of driving without a license.

A hearing to allow a judge to determine probable cause to further Rodriguez’s case to a grand jury was rescheduled multiple times before the step was bypassed with a direct indictment from the grand jury.

Rodriguez was allegedly being chased by police in Clark County when she crossed into Fayette County on the night of Sept. 4. She made a U-turn on I-75 and traveled the wrong way for almost a mile before her Ford F-150 hit two other vehicles, Lexington police said.

Winchester police officers who were chasing Rodriguez were driving about 90 mph, but she was outrunning them all before the crash, Winchester police Capt. James Hall said in September.

Rodriguez’s sister, Kandi Deel, 35, of Pikeville, was riding with Rodriguez and was killed in the crash, according to the Fayette County Coroner’s Office. Deel had changed her name from Debbie Lynn Bevins.

Two sisters in one of the other cars, 26-year-old Taylor Blevins and 20-year-old Caitlyn Bailey, were also killed, according to the Fayette County coroner. They were both from Georgetown.

Another woman was seriously injured in the crash.

Rodriguez also has two charges of wanton endangerment out of Clark County related to the chase before the fatal crash.

Rodriguez is being held in the Fayette County jail. She’s scheduled to be arraigned in Fayette Circuit Court on Dec. 19.
