KY man wanted for murder of his wife kills himself as police close in
A Pulaski County man committed suicide Wednesday as police came to arrest him over the death of his wife, according to Pulaski County Sheriff Greg Speck’s office.
Bobby E. Eldridge, 33, of Eubank, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at a motel in Somerset while police were outside, according to a release.
The case traces back to October, when the sheriff’s office began investigating the death of Donna Eldridge, Bobby Eldridge’s wife.
Police found her dead of a gunshot wound to the head at the couple’s house. Bobby Eldridge also had a gunshot wound to the head, but survived after treatment at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.
Police determined that Bobby Eldridge shot his wife and then himself. They obtained a murder warrant on Tuesday and found Eldridge at a motel in Somerset Wednesday afternoon.
Police tried to talk with him, but Eldridge didn’t respond.
Officers with the Kentucky State Police Special Response Team heard sounds coming from the room that raised concern about the safety of the occupant.
Police knocked open the door and found Eldridge with a gunshot wound, Speck’s office said.
An ambulance crew was standing by, but Eldridge was dead, according to the release.
