Parents charged after 2-year-old is found walking on Kentucky road wearing only a diaper
The parents of a 2-year-old child were arrested after their daughter was found walking in the middle of the road while wearing only a diaper on Friday afternoon.
The temperature was 41 degrees when a sheriff’s deputy responded to Ky. 3439 and Henry Martin Lane in Barbourville at 3:23 p.m. Friday afternoon, the Knox County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release. A woman had called for help after finding the toddler.
“The baby was extremely cold” and was taken to Barbourville ARH Hospital for medical attention, the sheriff’s office said.
After the deputy found the residence the girl had come from, he asked the parents, Robert Allen Williams, 26, and Patsy Murley, 21, if they knew where she was.
The father and mother “said they had been asleep since noon and had no idea,” the release stated.
Social services workers were called, and the 2-year-old and the couple’s other child were placed with a family member, the sheriff’s office said.
Social services reportedly told the sheriff’s office that a similar incident had happened Dec. 3.
The sheriff’s office said both parents tested positive for THC after a drug screening.
Williams and Murley were taken to the Knox County Detention Center on charges of first-degree wanton endangerment.
