Lexington police investigating possible hate crime at Walmart. See the video.
Police asked the public for help Wednesday as they worked to identify a white man who is suspected of putting his hands around a black woman’s neck at a Lexington store.
Later Wednesday, police announced that they had identified the man in the video and were continuing to investigate.
The incident happened on Jan. 29 at the Walmart at 500 West New Circle Road, according to Lexington police.
The woman was working as a vendor in the store and asked the man a question, at which point the man approached her. He made motions with his hands and told her he was “making a noose,” according to police. The man then can be seen on surveillance video reaching forward and putting his hands around the woman’s neck.
