After attempted abductions reports, Nicholasville PD urges people to call, not Facebook
After a series of online posts about a person in a white truck trying to abduct children in Nicholasville, police there are reminding people to call police immediately rather than just reporting incidents on social media.
The one incident involving the truck that was reported to Nicholasville police happened in the Garden Park area, the police department said in a Facebook post. Officers spoke with the people who reported that incident and are investigating.
Officers also learned about a social media post about a similar incident at City/County Park in Nicholasville and were eventually able to talk to the people involved, according to police.
A third incident happened in the Bell Place area, but that incident was only posted on social media and police have not yet heard from those involved, according to police.
“Everyone wants to know why we have not caught this person, well the best answer I can give is people have been calling others and posting to social media instead of calling the police,” the police department said in Monday’s Facebook post. “The best chance we have to apprehend someone is to be able to respond to the location immediately after it has happened, not a day later as some have done.”
The police department asks anyone who sees something that “may or may not be a crime” to call police immediately.
“We would rather respond to something that turns out not to be a crime then to not be notified of something that took place and take the chance on not finding the individuals involved,” the department said in the post.
