Lexington police investigating suspicious death in apartment near Henry Clay High School

Lexington police are investigating a suspicious death that apparently happened Tuesday.

According to a report from Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn’s office, Robert Marvin Clay, 63, was pronounced dead at 6:47 p.m. March 3.

He died at 2082 Fairmont Court, an apartment building off Lakeshore Drive and Fontaine Road, near Henry Clay High School and Richmond Road.

The cause of death is being withheld pending investigation, according to the coroner’s office.

This is being investigated as Lexington’s sixth homicide of 2020.

According to a news release, Lexington police were called to do a “welfare check” on a resident of the apartment and found Clay’s body.

“At this time, the circumstances of this case appear suspicious and detectives think foul play may be involved,” according to the release from the police.
