‘You all see that ----?’ KY man gets prison for using Facebook to make blast threat.

A Kentucky man who threatened to blow up a convenience store has been sentenced to two years and three months in prison.

Stanley Wade Goforth, of Laurel County, said he made the threat because he’d won $50 playing an illegal video gambling machine at the store, but the owner refused to pay him, according to a court document.

Goforth, 41, posted a video of himself making the threat and setting off a gunpowder explosion. Someone notified authorities after seeing the video.

U.S. District Judge Robert E. Wier sentenced Goforth this week in federal court in London.

Wier recommended that Goforth take part in counseling while in prison, with a focus on anger management, and also that he participate in substance-abuse treatment.

Goforth’s criminal history included drug charges, such as possessing an ingredient used to make methamphetamine.

The blast threat happened last August.

According to a court record, Goforth turned the camera toward himself after setting off the explosion and said, “Huhhh. You all see that (expletive)? Coming to a (ethnic slur) store near you. Soon!”

Goforth told federal authorities he had some electronic detonators he’d taken from a construction site and black powder like that used in muzzle-loading guns.

He put the gunpowder in a Pepsi can safe — a metal can that looks like a soft-drink can that can be used to hide valuables — and set it off.

Goforth said he didn’t intend to blow up the store, but acknowledged someone could perceive the video as a real threat.

Goforth has been in jail since last August after a magistrate judge said it could endanger the public to release him.
