$1.2 million in drugs seized by Kentucky State Police after high-speed chase
A police chase turned into a drug seizure Thursday, as a state trooper pursued a speeding car until it ran off the road and then found an estimated $1.2 million in drugs, according to Kentucky State Police.
The car had about 18 pounds of MDMA in it, according to police.
A state trooper observed a 2020 Ford Mustang driving 125 miles per hour on I-65 and pursued the car for two miles before it pulled off at an exit in Horse Cave, according to KSP. The driver lost control of the car and ran it off the road, at which point the driver and a passenger took off on foot, according to KSP.
Police said they apprehended and charged three suspects – Robert Ford, 26, of Atlanta; Cortez Woodruff, 27, of Fairburn, Georgia; and Kristin Summeror, 27, also from Fairburn.
Ford has been charged with speeding, trafficking a controlled substance, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, reckless driving, wanton endangerment of a police officer and two counts of evading police, according to KSP.
Woodruff has been charged with trafficking a controlled substance, evading police, menacing and resisting arrest. Summerour has been charged with trafficking a controlled substance.
