Man and young child dead after apparent murder-suicide at Kentucky apartment

A man and child were found dead at an apartment in Rockcastle County Tuesday afternoon.

Kentucky State Police said they were called to a “disturbance” at a residence on Castle Village Drive in Brodhead just after 2 p.m. Tuesday. When they arrived, state police said they found Ricky D. McClure, 52, of Brodhead, and a “young juvenile,” who both appeared to have died of gunshot wounds.

Rockcastle County Coroner Marvin Owens said the two people died in what appeared to be a murder-suicide at the Castle Village apartments.

Owens said he did not know the relationship between the man and the child.

State police said they are not looking for any suspects, and they have not filed any charges in connection with the case.

Autopsies will be conducted at the state medical examiner’s office in Frankfort, state police said.
