Woman found dead after early morning hit-and-run. Lexington police seek white SUV.

One woman has died after a hit-and-run in Lexington, police said.

Police were called to Martha Court just before 4:30 a.m. Wednesday for a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian, Lt. Chris Van Brackel said. When officers and the fire department arrived, they found a woman unresponsive, he said.

Eugenia Lynn Keens, 48, died at the scene about 4:50 a.m., the Fayette County coroner’s office said. The cause of death was blunt-force trauma. The death is being ruled a homicide, according to the coroner.

Witnesses stated that a white SUV struck the victim then fled the scene, police said. Investigators were looking for an older model, small white SUV with dark bumpers, Van Brackel said.

Martha Court is outside New Circle Road off Eastland Parkway.
