Man charged with DUI crashed into two houses with a Jeep, Kentucky police say
A man who was driving under the influence crashed into two houses in Henry County before he stopped, Kentucky State Police said.
State police said in a news release that they received multiple 911 calls about a reckless driver near New Castle Wednesday night, and a motorist flagged down a state trooper to say that a blue Jeep had gone off the road “numerous times.”
The trooper found the Jeep on South Property Road and was about to try to stop the vehicle when the driver, later identified as Charles Phillips, 24, of New Castle, lost control, state police said.
Phillips drove through several yards and collided with two houses before stopping, state police said. People were inside both homes, but no one was injured, state police said.
Phillips was arrested and charged with DUI, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first- and second-degree criminal mischief, driving on a suspended license and reckless driving.
State police said he was taken to the Oldham County Detention Center.
