Woman’s body found in container floating on Kentucky Lake; man arrested

A multi-state investigation began after the body of a woman from Texas was found in a plastic container floating on Kentucky Lake Saturday, and on Tuesday a man was arrested in connection with the case.

Texas Rangers arrested Jeffery Rogers, 60, of Arlington, Texas, in Fort Worth on Tuesday afternoon, charging him with abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence, according to a news release from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

According to the release, Rogers used a boat rented in Paris, Tenn., which is just across the Kentucky state line, to dispose of the body. The woman was identified as Traci L. Jones, 41, of Granbury, Texas, after an autopsy by the Kentucky state medical examiner’s office, Kentucky State Police said.

Jones’ body was found in a container on the lake near Colson Hollow at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Kentucky State Police said. The Trigg County coroner responded.

Rogers was being held in Texas on $1 million bond Tuesday while awaiting extradition to Tennessee, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. The homicide case is still under investigation.
