Victim shows up at hospital after shooting outside a Lexington Kroger, police say

A shooting victim showed up at a local hospital Monday night after being wounded at the Kroger on Bryan Station Road, Lexington police said.

Officers responded to an assault with a weapon call outside the store around 5 p.m. Monday. The suspect and victim, both men, fled the scene before police arrived, police said. But the victim later showed up at a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Lt. Jeremy Tuttle.

The victim was leaving Kroger when he “exchanged words” with the shooter, Tuttle said. That’s when the suspect shot and fled the scene, he said.

Police did not have a detailed description of the suspect yet.
