Man forced into car at Lexington gas station before being shot and robbed, police say
A man was hospitalized after being beaten, robbed and shot Monday morning, Lexington police said.
Officers responded to a call of an assault victim at Newtown Pike and West Loudon Avenue around 6:15 a.m., according to Lt. Jeremy Tuttle. They found a man who had been beaten and shot.
The man told police he had been forced into a maroon passenger car at the Thorntons gas station on North Broadway and Loudon Avenue, Tuttle said. The victim told police that once he was forced into the car, “a few” men beat, robbed and shot him before dumping him out of the car at Newtown Pike and West Loudon Avenue, Tuttle said.
The victim was taken to a local hospital by ambulance, Tuttle said. He had non-life-threatening injuries.
Police did not know if the victim had a relationship with the suspects. Further details about the incident were under investigation, Tuttle said.
