Murder warrant issued in Lexington homicide. Victim knew his killer, police say

Lexington police were searching Saturday for a 27-year-old man in the city’s 16th homicide of the year.

Darel Lennet Price, 31, was found by officers shortly before 3 a.m. on the ground in the 500 block of Chestnut Street; he had multiple gunshot wounds, according to police and the Fayette County coroner.

A warrant for murder was issued for Anthony King, 27, who knew the victim, police said. A warrant for being a felon in possession of a firearm also was issued for King.

Price was taken to the hospital and later died from his injuries, police said. The coroner listed the time of death as 5:08 a.m.

Price and King were acquaintances, police said.

Anyone with knowledge of King’s whereabouts was asked to contact Lexington Police. Anonymous tips may be submitted through Bluegrass Crime Stoppers by calling (859) 253-2020 or online at www.bluegrasscrimestoppers.com
