Kentucky nurse accused of slapping & pinching a nursing home resident enters Alford plea
A nurse who was accused of slapping and pinching a nursing home resident in Western Kentucky has accepted a plea agreement.
Ashley Maypray, 36, of Madisonville, entered an Alford plea on Monday to the misdemeanor charge of reckless abuse or neglect of an adult, the Kentucky attorney general’s office said Tuesday. Defendants who enter an Alford plea do not admit guilt but acknowledge that there is enough evidence to convict them.
Maypray was sentenced to 12 months’ probation by Hopkins Circuit Court, and as part of the plea agreement she agreed to be placed on the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services’ Caregiver Misconduct Registry for seven years, the attorney general’s office said in a news release.
The attorney general’s office did not name the nursing home where Maypray was employed. Court records indicate that one of the terms of her release in February 2019 was that she stay off the premises of Ridgewood Terrace Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Maypray was working as a licensed practical nurse when she allegedly slapped the victim’s mouth and twisted and pinched the skin on the person’s arm while performing medical services in March 2018, according to a previous news release from the AG’s office.
